PSNStores Weekly Roundup: February 4th – 10th 2013

This week I decided to grab a title off my ever growing backlog (shame) pile and choose to spend some time with inFamous 2. I was a big fan of the original inFamous and played through it twice when it was released back in 2009, but I never got around to playing the sequel and I plan on remedying that. Anyone got anything on their backlog that they are playing through now?

This year marks the 30th year of  Capcom and to celebrate they will be releasing Capcom Arcade Cabinet on Feburary 19th. The Arcade Cabinet will allow you to pick and choose (buy) different arcade games that they have released over the years, with new titles/packs being offered every two weeks until April 30th. Speaking of older games, a new title in the Obscure series was announced this week. Simply titled Obscure, the game will be taking the series from its high school survival horror roots to a 2D co-op shooter/brawler that looks like it could provide a lot of twitchy fun. Though this new direction might not appeal to the fans of the originals. While doing a bit of sleuthing on the Canada Media Fund website this week I came across some titles getting funded that may end up making their way to PSN/Vita in the future, including new games from Minority and Klei. Check out my write-up to see some descriptions of the games and what we know so far.

We got some disappointing news this week for Ratchet and Clank fans that have been waiting for the Vita version of Full Frontal Assault to be released and it has once again been delayed. To make up for it free copies of Ratchet and Clank Deadlocked on PSN will be given out to people who have purchased the PSN/Disc version. But its not all bad news for Vita this week as we got some great looking screen shots for Velocity Ultra that has gotten me even more excited for the upcoming release and news that the Vita version of Rocketbirds will be coming to NA next week.

It seems Thomas Hopper is on a roll with releasing new PSM games as he has announced that Super Brain Eat 3 should be available to download before the end of February and for more information about the title you can check out our developer interview with  him. We also had the chance to ask one of the developers of  Haunt the House: Terrortown some questions about one of the best looking PSM games so make sure to give that interview a read.  This week brought word of a new developer is jumping into PlayStation Mobile development. Mike Oliphant of Nostatic Software is planing on bringing his future titles and some of his past to PSM so keep an eye out for his first game which should be ready by the end of February. Make sure you grab this weeks free PSM game Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender before Tuesdays update comes. It won our PSM game of the year for 2012 so it is definitely one you don’t want to miss.

Only a single review for you this week with Nick’s thoughts on Vita’s first fishing game Let’s Fish! Hooked On.

It’s another new week with a new feature to announce: PSNStores Global Weekly Deals Circular. Each week Nick will be collecting all the deals and sales for North America, Europe, Japan, and Hong Kong into one handy space to make sure you make the most out of your money. Chris is back with his second installment of his video playthrough of PixelJunk Shooter 2 and if one video is not enough you can also watch Chris and Nick play the new wacky DLC that came out for When Vikings Attack.
