PSNStores Weekly Roundup: August 5th – 11th 2013

This week has brought us news about some upcoming games that I know we have all been looking forward to. Next month we will finally be able to play Zen Studios mash up of rhythm and fighting in KickBeat and the 2D survivor horror game Lone Survivor: The Directors Cut will be coming with an interesting take on take its trophies. Announced at E3 Galak-Z: The Dimensional will be coming to PS4 next year and we can now see the game in action in its debut trailer, which is looking fantastic. Rainbow Skies, the sequel to 2012’s Rainbow Moon, will also be coming out in 2014 on PS3/Vita which I am sure is exciting news for some of you (but probably not Curtis). But while those games are a ways off this weeks store update is looking like it will be supplying a lot of entertainment with the releases of BreakQuest: Extra Evolution, Ducktales Remastered, Fruit Ninja, Open Me, and PAYDAY 2.

We also received some potential good news with PSM this week as there is a rumor that a new SDK will be releasing on August 21st that will finally allow developers to implement PSN integrated leaderboards. Hopefully this is the case as PSN leaderboards have been one of the big features that have been missing from PSM games, and would make competing with friends so much easier. It’s always good to see quality PSM games getting support as Penguin Party released their first DLC pack this week and also announced that the game has surpassed 20,000 downloads! You can read about the DLC and fan reaction to the game in our interview with the developers XMPT Games.

To finish off this week’s roundup I want to say congratulations to all the winners in our 50 States 50 Codes (plus Canada) giveaway that walked away with a code for one of my favorite games this year, Velocity Ultra. A big thank you to FuturLab for supplying the codes (and making the great game) and I hope all the winners are enjoying it.  Our Pinball Arcade tournament is also continuing with one of my personal favorite tables, Theatre of Magic. Good luck once again to all participants as this week should be an exciting one.
