PSNStores Weekly Roundup: January 21st – 27th 2013

There was plenty new to grab in this weeks store update, but my attention was squarely placed on the 13 for ’13 sale. While there were definitely some things missing from the sale (where are you Vita games?) the selection contained some really great deals on titles like LittleBigPlanet Karting and The Unfinished Swan, especially for Plus members. My copy of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal also showed up on my steps a couple of days ago so I finally had the chance to sit down and play some of that which was quite enjoyable. I am looking forward to trying out Kat and Emmet when the Overtime DLC pack hits in a couple of weeks.

This weeks PSM update seen the release of 2chSharp, a 2ch bulletin board browser, in Japan and the platforms first FPS Gun Commando in North America and Europe. There has been a lot of praise floating around about Gun Commando and you can check out this weeks Quick Play to see Nick’s thoughts on it. It seems Thomas Hopper of  T.A.C.S Games is on a roll with releasing PSM games to the platform as he has submitted his 3rd and 4th titles,  the interactive sound toy Still Life and the retro styled puzzle platformer Super Skull Smash Go!, which you can look forward to playing soon. He  has also submitted a patch for Meltdown Moon that fixes pretty much all the problems that were outlined in our Quick Play of the game, so if you had some gripes with it make sure to head back and check it out once the patch is released.

This week saw the announcement of some interesting titles coming this year. First we have Unearthed: Trail of Ibn Battuta, which tells the story of fortune hunter Faris Jawad adventures in Morocco which might remind you of a certain PlayStation exclusive series. The game will be released on PSN and while we do not have a concrete release date yet you can check out the post for an impressive looking trailer to get an idea what to expect. Starting off as a parody of the fighting game genre, Divekick has become quite a sensation at fighting game competitions. Featuring a two button control scheme with one hit deaths the game is looking to be quite a bit of fun playing with a few friends.  You can look forward to it coming to PSN and Vita this spring. Finally card game fans out there have another title to bite into after last years Uncharted: Fight for Fortune and Magic the Gathering 2013. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Decade Duels Plus will be coming to PSN this year and its looking to have more then enough content to keep fans of the series (and maybe even a few editors) content for quite a while.

In reviews this week Curtis revisited a world of disturbing horror with Corpse Party: Book of Shadows and Ben took a journey into The Cave. Make sure to check out this weeks podcast to hear about the editors first experiences with Wake-up Club, a discussion about whether or not the Mini’s Title Aero Racer is a good game (it is), and more about Corpse Party.

For those in NA who have not been enjoying the new PlayStation Store update that came out back in November you got some good news this week as the PlayStation Webstore has been released. You can now search and purchase content on the Webstore in a quick and easy matter and then jump on your PS3/Vita to download the content. For those who experience major slowdown with the store (me) this is a godsend for checking out all the new offerings every Tuesday and one that I will be taking full advantage of. A few weeks ago Japan finally got updated to the New PS store making it a challenge for non Japanese speaking people to navigate and shop on the store. Thankfully Chris took some time to record a pretty thorough walkthrough of the store to help you guys out.

To finish off this weeks Round Up we have a new developer Q&A with the CEO of Old School Games about their mutliplayer shooter God Mode that will be released later this year. Give it a read to learn more about God Mode and Old School Games and keep an eye on PSNStores for new info as we hear more about this exciting title.
