PSNStores Weekly Roundup: December 17th – 23rd 2012

‘Tis the season for giving so I decided to take advantage of the current sales on the PlayStation store and gave myself the gift of Rayman Origins, Dokuro, and Escape Plan. Now, if I just had the ability to gift myself the time to play them as Persona 4 Golden is currently sitting under the tree for me on Christmas Day. I also went back and finally finished up Retro City Rampage (and getting 100%) this past week. I feel it’s one of the most enjoyable games this year with its great retro style and plethora of parodies. Is anyone planning on finishing up games in their backlog over the holidays?

Fans of Rockstar got quite a surprise this week when six of their classic PS2 titles were re-rated by the ESRB and three then being published on the store Tuesday. You can now (re)play Bully, Midnight Club 3, and Red Dead Revolver on your PS3 for the price of $9.99 each. Barry Steakfries made a surprise visit on the PlayStation Network when PS3 and Vita versions of Jetpack Joyride hit Europe this week (and will be coming to NA on the 31st) for my favourite price; free. With trophies and leaderboards this will make a great addition to the platforms, but it seems a little unfair to release these versions for free just a month after the minis version was released for the inflated (imo) price of $3.99.

In the PSM Update this week, we witnessed the release of Cosmic Clean Up and Crash Planets. And as always you can check out Chris’ impression of these titles in this weeks PSM Quick Look. You can also give this weeks PSNStores Podcast 81 a listen. Hear some thoughts on those games and other releases this week including Knytt Underground and Labyrinth Legends.
