Whity the Dolphin’s Character of the Year

Samuel is not just our Character of the Year, he is the strangest, yet most knowledgeable character we’ve seen in 2015. He doesn’t appear all that often in Life is Strange, but when he does, it’s always interesting to hear what he is going to say. The more you talk to him, the more intriguing his character is, and he just seems to know more than he’s willing to share. We enjoyed talking to Samuel throughout Life is Strange and could always rely on him to make us laugh.

Runners-Up: Anghel Higure (Hatoful Boyfriend), Monaca Towa (Danganronpa: Another Episode – Ultra Despair Girls)

Biggest Surprise

There was some hype rippling from the earlier release of Grow Home on Steam, but since I don’t play games on my computer I didn’t know what to expect of the game. I first caught a glimpse of it when Collin played it on one of our live streams. Even though he was a bit lukewarm on it, I thought it looked brilliant. The Octodad-esque goofiness of BUD’s movement combined with open-world exploration makes for a zen-like experience. It’s got just enough challenge in its movement controls to keep you from nodding off, and the accompanying music and graphics create a warm blanket in which to wrap yourself while playing. I didn’t expect much from Grow Home at first but was pleasantly charmed by it in quick time. Check out that one time when Brad and I infiltrated each other’s world!

Runners-Up: Resident Evil: Revelations 2, The Castle Game

Most Disappointing

This category didn’t take long to decide. PT gave us a brief glimpse at a dream team scenario in Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima. Everything about PT just filled us with both fear and excitement for what these two could do with a horror franchise like Silent Hill. PT won our Best Surprise category last year so it only seems fitting that it’s death would take our Most Disappointing as well. For everything that left us disappointed in 2015…this one hurts the most.

Runners-Up: htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary, Corpse Party: Blood Drive
