Z-Run fleeing the zombie apocalypse on Vita this May

Our pal Alexey Menshikov from Beatshapers blasted our inbox this morning to announce their 20th PlayStation Network title. It’s called Z-Run and is what I would describe as a pseudo-infinite runner. Our survivor runs away from the screen and is tasked with simply surviving by avoiding various obstacles including hordes of seemingly nonthreatening zombies.

The most enticing gameplay mechanic comes in the form of an endurance meter. While running toward the zombie filled mayhem, the player must carefully manage the character’s energy level which depletes with every punch, kick, slide or other action. The trailer above shows a bit of gameplay demonstrating exactly what it’s like to play this balancing game within the game.

More details about Z-Run are as follows:

  • Defend yourself with items you find in the city such as guns, blades and bats
  • Melee attacks keep you running for longer as you knock zombies off their feet with the slide attack
  • Every move you make tires you out, and becoming exhausted is a sure way to get eaten
  • Multiple routes to take as you sprint through the city, and exploration is an essential part of survival during the undead armageddon

Beatshapers most recently announced another game called Ready To Run coming to PlayStation 4 sometime this year. The Ukraine based developer has also released FurminsBreakQuest: Extra Evolution, Jetpack Joyride and Canabalt with much success on various platforms. Lastly, Beatshapers has teased a secret Project Morpheus title on their Facebook.
