“QuikBuyers” get free DLC for early pre-orders of Oddworld: New & Tasty
Pre-orders for Oddworld: New & Tasty have been going in for a little while now. Those that have or will be pre-ordering Just Add Water’s redux of a PS One classic will be granted free access to two pieces of DLC when they become available.
The first is a DLC outfit for Abe and will be available on the day Oddworld: New & Tasty releases. They’re calling it the “QuikBuy Scrub Abe” outfit because it’s exclusive to only those that pre-order (or “QuikBuy”).
Now you can really go to work on those Sligs! Players that pre-order the game can get Abe kitted out in a traditional factory cleaner’s outfit (complete with striped loincloth and scalp cap) so they can really look the part on that grimy factory floor.
The second item, Alf’s Escape, will be gifted to pre-orderers “shortly after release” for no additional charge. It’s a DLC level tasking Abe to extract Alf (from Abe’s Exoddus) as quickly as possible. It will have it’s own online leaderboards tracking everyone’s fastest rescue times.
Witness the humble beginnings of that fez-donning, tea-lovin’ Mudokon first seen in Abe’s Exoddus! Use Abe’s haphazard skills to sneak Alf outta the factory and to freedom! Watch out for that meat grinder!
“Alf’s Escape” is an all-new area of RuptureFarms containing brand new puzzles and fiendish hazards that’ll ensure a fresh challenge for even the most seasoned Oddworld fans, as well as specially recorded dialogue!
Pre-ordering on PS4 has slowly meant that the game can be preloaded onto the system ahead of the actual release date, so that on the minute of the release day the game will become unlocked. Stewart Gilray, CEO at Just Add Water, mentions in his PlayStation Blog post that they are working out the details to hopefully make this happen with Oddworld: New & Tasty.
The final tease to all this is New & Tasty and all this tasty QuikBuy DLC will be Cross-Buy and Cross-Save with their inevitable future release on PS3 and Vita. Oh yeah, and one more tiny thing…you must in the US or Canada.
