Just Add Water has released a hot little gameplay [teaser] trailer for Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty at this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Ca. The game is a redux of the original 1997 PlayStation One classic Abe’s Oddyssee and is coming to PS3, PS4 and Vita sometime this year.

Bringing a PlayStation One classic to the modern gaming realm was no cheap task as Oddworld creator Lorne Lanning told Eurogamer that New ‘n’ Tasty cost about $5 million to produce. To support a development budget of that size, the game will launch at a $29.99 price point. While that might seem a bit high, Lanning believes it’s worth it. “This game will play better, look better, and you’ll have more fun with it for more hours of play than games you’re paying $60 for,” Lanning said. “That’s a promise. And I can say that with absolute confidence.”

The higher price will allow the team at Just Add Water to produce a similar remake for Abe’s Exoddus if total sales surpass 250,000 copies. If the game hits 500,000 units in sales the team will revive the once called Oddworld game, The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot. Like before, Lanning is confident in his franchise’s ability to sell, revealing that total franchise sales have surpassed 7 million, with 2 million of that coming from the property’s digital presence. While New ‘n’ Tasty will launch first on PlayStation, the future of Oddworld won’t rest entirely in the hands of Sony’s gamers as the game is scheduled for launches on Windows, Mac, and Wii U.
