Sideway: New York Trailer and Screens Paint a Pretty Picture

Sideway: NY is a game we’ve been tracking for quite some time. We even had Gerhard and Scott on the podcast to talk about it in early April (y u no listen to psnstores podcast?). They had to be tight-lipped about it back then, but now that SDCC is going on, they’re finally ready to show some Sideway goodness to the world.

Peep the trailer:

Sideway is a 2D adventure platformer set in a 3D environment. What I mean is splattered, nay, spray painted onto a 3D environment. Take a look at that trailer again. That is very cool. You play as Nox as he is sucked into SIDEWAY, a twisted graffiti world that forces him to navigate between 2D and 3D world views in order to survive against enemies and his nemesis, Spray. Besides for pushing boxes, you’ll also be able to acquire abilities that allow you to soar, slide, jump, and blast through enemies to explore unique environments.

The game can be played solo or with drop-in/drop-out local co-op. The PR boasts “Boss Battles unlike anything you have ever seen! Sadistic pink bunny boss that vomits sadistic pink mini-bunnies… yeah, we’ve got that.” Original hip-hop tracks by Mr. Lif will orchestrate the action. No online features have been announced yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the guys at Fuel and PlayBrains have a couple of more surprises up their sleeves. Even if they don’t, the game looks totally rad.

Some more screens:

As soon as we get more info, we’ll be sure to post it. Look for an ESRB rating sometime in the near future. My guess? November or December.
