After a fairly lengthy delay, SEGA has finally announced the release date and price for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, and the game is set to hit PSN on October 12th in the US, and on October 13th in the EU, with the prices coming in at $14.99 / £9.99 / €12.99 / AU$19.95 in the regions it is set to launch in.
We played an incomplete build of the game at PAX, and Eric seemed to enjoy it in the preview we have up on the site (which can be found right here). I’m personally pretty interested in this one, but I know better than to get too excited for Sonic games. I’ve been burned before, and each time it happens, I get more and more skeptical that this will be the game to restore some much needed credibility to the franchise. We can only hope that this is the one. It certainly looks like it could be.

I am like so totally buying this come day 1
“Episode 1″ makes it sound fishy. Do we know how many levels this thing is going to have? Trying to determine if it’s worth the $15 if it’s going to be episodic.
Each episode has 4 levels; each level has a couple of zones. One of the levels = the super easy boss battle. Check out the PAX Impressions to see videos of the game. I write about it, too. $15 is steep for this title, for sure. Chris and I said that as soon as the guy mentioned that as their price range at PAX. Maybe all of the secret levels and stuff beef up the content, but I doubt it.
Very exited to play, but I think that price point is $5 too high. Especially since the game is broken up into episodes, with the first one only having 4 areas I believe (though I could be wrong about that)
