2 million is a big number. SHIFT, a puzzle platformer for the PC and later the iPhone, has been downloaded 2 million times. The game’s developer, Fishing Cactus, has decided to grace the PlayStation Network with an adaptation of SHIFT. Titled “SHIFT extended”, the minis version of the game will include more than double the content of the iPhone version. Speaking of the iPhone version, here’s a video of the gameplay that I found on YouTube:
The shifting, I’m guessing, refers to your ability to flip into the opposite color in order to discover new paths and unlock doors. This looks like a perfect minis title; a mixture of echochrome’s monochromatic graphics and some good old fashioned platforming. I’m looking forward to toting this around on my PSP in the near future.

Gameplay-wise it reminds me a bit of the game Exit, though I don’t think it’ll be as physics-based as that game is (nor will it have an emphasis on rescuing people). It definitely looks like a cool game, and it’ll probably be a better fit on the PSP (from that video it looks a bit unwieldy controlling it on the iPhone).
I get an Exit vibe, too. Hopefully your character moves more fluidly than Exit. I failed a bunch of levels because of the finicky starting and stopping in Exit.
This is the first I’ve heard of this title. Looks like it’ll be worth picking up. Do we have any target launch dates for PSN?
The PR said it’s to be released Q4, so it should be releasing sometime in the next couple of months. As soon as we get a concrete date we’ll post it.
looks neat.
If anyone wants to try the game out you can play the flash version here: http://armorgames.com/play/751/shift
I liked what I played, but I didn’t play too much because I want it to be fresh when I play it on the PSP.
