A subscription model for PSNow is confirmed to be coming at some point in the future. Later this year PSNow will launch on PS3, PS Vita, PlayStation TV, and select Sony TVs. In addition there are plans to bring PSone, PS2, and PS4 games to the service.

Greg Hastings Paintball 2, eric will be happy

  • KosmoCrisis

I think pricing video game rentals is almost like the great Pro Life/Choice debate or other similar world issue. No one will ever agree on what is right. Sure, you can buy a PSN game for less than $6 or you can rent it for 90 days and pay $8. You pay that premium so that you can give it back. I see the parallels already.

    • I’d honestly be willing to consider a Netflix-style monthly subscription.

    • KosmoCrisis

It’s in the works according to the lame Shuman Buser video. Gawd.

    • Didn’t see it. Hopefully they don’t overprice it.

      Lol, they will overprice it.

    • Alkaporty

Considering what PS+ gives you, I still have hope for a good pricing

  • Alkaporty

The 4 hours rental is ridiculous lol it should be at least maximum 1 buck or 3 days, and an option to buy would be really nice, but that’s just the beta, so I’m optimistic

    • KosmoCrisis

Yeah, I was entering into the Beta looking forward to seeing Redbox styled pricing. Just simple 1 day rentals or something. 90 days sure does complicate things.

I’m just surprised at the number of people who are renting. Check out the star ratings and it is baffling. Some people are happy with some of the prices. I think they should offer $1.99 for 1 day rentals max.
Sadly Sony is at the mercy of publishers and you can see who is greedy and who is reasonable.
      Cheers!!!
      Graf
P.S. I would pay $49.95 a year for unlimited streaming option. They can charge $14.99 per month $29.99 for 6 months.

Next gen is going to not require a console in order to play. it will all be done server side and be online only. It is the only logical step in the gaming industries plan to eliminate physical media and used game resellers.

  • syvyn11

I hope that Sony prices their PS2 and PSOne games a bit more reasonable, I won’t do it for PS3 games (which I never was going to use PSNow for). If they price the retro games too high, I might try to trade my PS4 for a XB1.

Now it makes sense of a headline I saw. PSNow, built to win, set up to lose.

How is this going to work vs. PlayStation Plus? I know they’re separate subscriptions with separate supply, but you gotta think the subscription model has to be comparable to +. Thoughts?
