Before Galak-Z, 17-Bit’s new game coming to PS4 later this year, there was the turn-based strategy game Skulls of the Shogun. 17 Bit is now bringing over the Bone-a-Fide edition of the game to PS4 sometime this year.
You play General Akamoto, Japan’s greatest shogun, who’s been stabbed in the back on the eve of his greatest battle – and transported to the Samurai Afterlife. But an impostor has taken your place, and it’s up to you to shatter his plans and regain your honor as Shogun – of the Dead!
17 Bit describes the game as their love letter to Advance Wars with the one exception that Skulls of the Shogun is not grid based. Instead each unit has a movement radius with the ability to form a protective wall around friendly units when positioned close together. A physics engine allows for units to be pushed around into hazards or right off the edge of a cliff.
The Bone-a-Fide edition adds a new single player campaign (24 missions in total), new multiplayer maps (36 maps in total), and a brand new unit. In multiplayer you can go up against your friends locally or online in 2-4 player matches. Additionally the game allows for asynchronous multiplayer which allows for players to take turns at their own leisure.
Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-a-Fide edition will release on the PS4 later this year.
