PS4 receives 338MB update in System Software v1.61

Hot on the heels of this week’s PlayStation Network update featuring some sweet PS Plus deals is a 338MB system software update for PS4 labeled v1.61. The update includes the following changes and enhancements to the PlayStation 4:

  • Picture quality during DVD playback has been improved.
  • Wireless stereo headsets (CECHYA-0080 / CECHYA-0083 / CECHYA-0086) and a stereo headset (CECHYA-0088) are now supported.
  • You can now mute the microphone for PlayStation®Camera.
  • System software stability during use of some features has been improved.

The update is likely downloading and installing automatically if you’ve got your PS4 in Standby Mode. If your system is fully shut down, then expect the update to begin downloading in the background the next time you boot up and don’t expect to access PSN until installation has completed.

Let us know in the comments section below if you notice any additional changes. The PlayStation Blog will likely update further into Tuesday morning Pacific time to announce the update and the specifics therein.
