During tonight’s hour long event celebrating the PlayStation 4 launch Sony announced that TowerFall Ascension will be headed to PS4 early next year. TowerFall, a local multiplayer archery combat game, has previously received a lot of praise from those who played it on the Ouya and now the PS4 version promises loads of new content. TowerFall Ascension will feature 50 new versus levels, 4 more playable characters, a new 12-player Quest mode and more.

You can check out the debut trailer for TowerFall Ascension above this post. The game is set to launch on PS4 early next year.

    Have you seen Towerfall?

TowerFall is Ouya’s standout title to date, so news of it coming to Playstation is warmly welcomed. HOWEVER, I must admit that TowerFall is a game that I’d far rather have on my Vita than my PS4.

[NOTE]: Some people are just never happy, huh?!! ;-)

I agree to some extent that I’d play it on my Vita, but this game is best by all players on one screen. The feeling of being next to the guy you just luck-shot through the bottom of the screen cannot be replicated by handheld online multiplayer.
      Maybe Vita w/ Ad-hoc?
      Or Vita w/ cross-platform PS4 play?
      Remote play?
I’m sure they’re considering those possibilities.

Four DualShock 4′s will become more common than 4 people with Vita’s, and Vita has been out for over a year! I think this type of same-screen MP game belongs on consoles and unless it had a strong single-player component, doesn’t need to be on Vita.

There’s no single-player component. Actually, that’s why I never purchased the full game for my Ouya – don’t have people over enough to play it. That said, it’s a fun local multiplayer game, and I’d be interested to see how/if any online muliplayer is incorporated. It’s not really a complex game but it is a lot of fun with four people going at it.

The “single-player” = Trials and Quest modes. In trials, you complete levels by shooting dummies as quickly as possible. I’m assuming there will be leaderboards incorporated. There are also hidden things in the Trials levels, I’m told.
Quest mode is 1-2 players and has you battling waves of different enemy types. It’s rather difficult and boosts your skills quite a bit.

I’d also enjoy an online multi-player version w/cross-play on PS-Vita.
