Its looking like a very Odd christmas indeed. Announced today on the OddBlog, Just Add Water’s HD Remake of Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee will be arriving in Europe next week. Titled, appropriately, Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD, the game is a remake of the original xbox launch title. It’ll come in at $9.99/€8.99/£7.99, and will launch on EU PSN on the 19th of December. No exact date for the US just yet, but expect it in late December.

However, just as excitingly, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD for Vita is out in North America on 18 December and Europe on 19 December, costing $14.99/€11.99/£9.99. I’ve been playing the game for review, and I can certainly say that it feels like a no compromise version of the PS3 remake, albeit with some touch controls chucked in as button replacements. They feel appropriate though, and the game runs well and looks great on the smaller screen. No cross-buy or cross-save compatibility, unfortunately, but the rest of package is all present and accounted for. Look for both titles next week if you’re in the EU.

SW HD for Vita is however not appropriately titled given that it is not running in HD.

How did you come up with that conclusion? The Vita’s resolution is 960×544 which is higher than standard HD (720×480). You’re probably thinking only about “full HD”, 1080p.

Besides, the title is based on the fact that the game was retooled in this resolution from the original Xbox which was a lower resolution.
