Just in case you were on the fence about downloading Retro City Rampage from Vita this Tuesday, let us help push you off. Rey Gutierrez, Creator of Awesome for the PlayStation Blog, recently released The Drop weekly post onto the PlayStation Blog, and let drop an easter egg about an easter egg for Retro City Rampage.
If you’ve listened to the PlayStation Blogcast before, then you know the guys. Well, Sid, Jeff, and Rey will soon be selectable characters in Retro City Rampage. Their 8-bit digitized avatars are a thing of beauty and a testament to how much Sony has thrown behind this game. What, no mention of Nick? (Nick is confirmed!)

A seven year labor of love from the one-man-developer Brian Provinciano, with the help of artist Maxime Trépanier and chiptune music by Leonard Paul and Jake “Virt” Kaufman, we expect Retro City Rampage to do exceptionally well. And even though it will also be available on PSN, Xbox Live Arcade, WiiWare, and Steam, its the Vita’s pixel perfect presentation and portability that trumps all other offers.
Coming this Tuesday, October 9th, Retro City Rampage is an open-world blast from the past that features 8-bit-styled graphics presented in high definition for PS3 and Vita. Its got “fast paced arcade action” and an “epic mission based story mode”, with 20 different weapons and 30 different vehicles. If you don’t plan on downloading it tomorrow Tuesday, I’d really like to know why in the comments section below.
As an added bonus, the Retro City Rampage Twitter feed posted the above video that did not make it into the upcoming official trailer.
