Pocket Fighter PS One Classic Reverted Back to PS3-only Status

Yesterday was a very significant day for PlayStation and its fans the world over. Not because of PlayStation Mobile, but because a slew of Capcom games were added to the list of PS One Classics for Vita. But one in particular had problems and has since been removed from the PlayStation Store.

Pocket Fighter released onto the PlayStation Store exclusively for PS3 back in February 2011. Why it wasn’t available for PSP remains a mystery while all other Capcom games function perfectly. Yesterday, the rare PS One classic was publicly advertised by the PlayStation Blog as officially supported for Vita.

I, like many others, hit “Buy Now” as fast as I could after the store updated on Tuesday. After a successful purchase and download directly from the PS Store on Vita, Pocket Fighter would not install. After three attempts it was time to call it a night. But first I had to download it onto the PS3 to attempt a transfer which also didn’t not work.

As of now, Pocket Fighter has reverted back to “PS3-only” status and no longer appears available to download through the Vita via the PS Store or the Download List. We’ve reached out to Sony’s PSN and PR departments for an update on the title. Whether or not Pocket Fighter will return to the Vita in working order remains to be seen.

We’d like to just how many of you bought Pocket Fighter from your Vita on Tuesday.
