Scarygirl Coming to PSN Soon

I was beginning to wonder what had happened to Scarygirl after the Minis version released last year. Looks like the PSN version isn’t far off and we’ve got some new screens and a trailer for you to check out.

As a refresher Scarygirl is based off the graphic novel by Nathan Jurevicius which follows the character of Scarygirl, an abandoned child with a tentacle arm and pirate outfit, as she seeks out the meaning behind a strange man who is haunting her dreams. Throughout her journey into the world Scarygirl will have a ‘tentacle-powered arsenal’ up her sleeve to protect her from enemies.

This arsenal will be upgradeable as the game progresses by purchasing new moves and adding attachments to her tentacle arms. She’ll also have the help of friends and guardians from the graphic novel such as Blister the giant octopus and Bunniguru the kung-fu rabbit. (Bunniguru will also be available as a local co-op player.)

The game also features a complete standalone chapter from the graphic novel in which Scarygirl finally meets up with the man haunting her dreams. (I’ve never read the graphic novel but I’m going to guess this is just a continuation of the graphic novel’s ending which could be pretty cool.)

As the screenshots show below the game features a same art style used in the graphic novel.

If you take a look at the game’s official website you’ll see it has a release date of January 24, 2012.
