One To Watch: A Virus Named Tom

I hadn’t even heard of A Virus Named Tom until last night, when a PM arrived in my twitter inbox. Upon opening the link in said PM, I was whisked away to a web site for a game I hadn’t heard about, and immediately fell in love with what I saw. A Virus Named Tom looks like a very inventive mix of pipe dream and chu chu rocket, but with a delightfully destructive twist. Take a look at this alpha trailer below, and see for yourself.

In the game, you play the role of a virus… named Tom. But that’s only part of the story. Our story actually begins when Dr X creates the City Of Tomorrow, filled with such amenities as robot dogs and houses that clean themselves. However, the MegaTech corporation fired him as soon as work was completed on his masterpiece. Apparently he didn’t fit the brand. Of course, the good doctor promptly went bad, and gave one final gift to the city, a virus intent on destroying everything it touched. That’s where you come in of course. A Virus Named Tom is currently targeted for all 3 digital platforms, but it’d be a darn shame if it didn’t turn up on PSN sooner of later. It certainly looks like something you should keep your eye on.
