Choplifter HD Coming Soon to PSN

To be honest, I’m not too sure what to think about this reboot of an old Atari game. Is it… 2D? But you can shoot at the camera, it looks like. The point of the game is to kill bad people and rescue good people. The trailer’s nothing if not mildly humorous:

It reminds me of how in Just Cause 2, as you’re blowing the shit out of everything in sight, a government sponsored radio transmission will come through claiming that “everything is all right, there is no need for alarm, the suspect has been captured and killed” or something along those lines.

Check out the deets (yeah, I wrote it), courtesy of arstechnica:

In Choplifter HD, players take on the role of an up and coming rescue pilot asked to join the elite, international helicopter rescue team C.H.O.P.R. (Coordinated Helicopter Operations, Preservation and Rescue). Pilots will be trained to command a variety of helicopters deployed on more than 20 different missions ranging from captured military prisoner extraction to saving survivors of viral outbreaks. Pilots must bank, hover and touch-down in perilous conditions in order to make their rescue and complete their mission. Developed and published by inXile Entertainment, Choplifter HD dares players to risk their lives in order to save others.

OVER 20 MISSIONS!? There’s no way that can be right! inXile has a respectable resumé, so here’s hoping this won’t be a throwaway modernization. Stay tuned for a more concrete release window than “soon.”
