Eric Lempel has posted a preview on the PlayStation Blog. Here is what some of the features are:
- Facebook intergration – automatically update your Facebook News Feed with Trophy and PlayStation Store activity.
- The Photo category on the XMB has been revamped to make it easier to see more of your photos stored on the PS3.
- The PSN Friends List has been modified based on feedback we received after update 3.00. Additionally, you can now choose a color for your PSN ID on the XMB.
The changes to the friendslist look a lot better already.

Indifferent towards the whole Facebook integration, but the friend list changes are welcome.
I’m the same way. I believe that this Facebook integration and the Xbox Facebook/Twitter applications are just too much. My computer or iPhone are in arms reach where my consoles are at. And frankly I don’t need to let everyone know how many times I’ve died on Uncharted 2, or have the need to explain myself why I bought “27 Dresses”.
I personally wish that Sony would quit dragging their feet and start implementing features that the fans actually want. In-Game voice chat/messaging, better browser support, are just a few things that come to mind. I wish they would use Xbox Live as a template and go off of that. I play on both consoles and the interactivity with friends, so far is better on the 360 than it is on the PS3. If they are starting to mimic features of the 360 (with this whole Facebook intergration thing), then maybe they should start looking at the other features of the NXE. Except for Xbox Live Gold, don’t copy that noise
.
I can see the facebook stuff being useful – to some. I wonder what back-end things Sony put in this firmware that we won’t know about.
