This trailer proves it!

This Trine 2 trailer is nothing more than an excuse for Atlus and developer Frozenbyte to show you just how pretty their game is. It attempts to explain a few story details here and there, such as the fact that there is a journey to embark on, but really it’s all about just how beautiful Trine 2 is. I mean, just look at it jaunting about in the trailer below.

Trine 2 is still slated for this year, and features online and offline co-op. It also has a Wizard in it.

US & EU Get Patched

Did you buy Trine from the US store and wonder why there was no trophy art and other such things? Well it was missing a patch that our European friend got long ago and now you can finally get those fixes. If you want the low-down on all the updates and fixes check out our previous post.

But what others have found is that there is a new patch for the European version too! Joel from Frozenbyte didn’t even know this had gone up until someone posted about it on the Community Forums. Here is the list of fixes in this new version, note that the US version should have these as well:

* adds failsafe for unlocking Very Hard difficulty
* fixes a respawn bug in Iron Forge (co-op) near the first gate
* fixes a rare crash when the player touches a falling rock as it breaks (Crystal Caverns)
* fixes a rare crash when a water splash effect is played while the player exits to menus
* fixes a rare bug that occurred when the player switched characters and died simultaneously
* fixes final boss animations sometimes not working properly (Tower of Sarek)
* fixes a co-op respawn bug with the last checkpoint (Tower of Sarek)
* fixes a collision issue in the Iron Forge level (caused the Thief to take damage from lava)
* fixes several oxygen gauge bugs
* fixes autoaim bugs in Tower of Sarek
* fixes the Boots item to work properly (reduces spike/goo damage)
* fixes random failure of overwriting save slots in the New Game menu
* fixes Credits section names

Beware though, as there may be a save file issue with this latest patch.

What I liked:

The visuals (Every environment in the game pops out at you)

The sound (From the sound effects to the music to the excellent narration)

The puzzles (Each one can be solved numerous ways)

The length (This game was longer than I expected. Took 6-7hrs to finish on Medium)

The treasure hunting (Search around the levels to find all the experience and secret chests)

What I disliked:

The controls (This is a PC port and you can tell)

The lack of enemy variety (Lots of skeletons and bats)

Minor technical issues (There was some slowdown and a some physics bugs)

The price (It is pricey)

All and all the game is fun. The puzzles are interesting and the gameplay is there, so if you have the money, I would recommend this game. Also there are a lot of trophies for this game, including a platinum, so if you want to make your level higher don’t miss out.

It seems Frozenbyte has been listening to fan feedback. Right now on European PSN a patch is up which includes a new background image, all new Trophy graphics, and code optimizations. Full PR statement here:

THE “BEST DOWNLOADABLE GAME AT E3″ IS NOW EVEN BETTER

Finnish game developer Frozenbyte and French publisher Nobilis Publishing are proud to announce the release of a patch for Trine on the PlayStation Network.

We received great feedback from the players and we listened. We are now thrilled to be able to offer them an even better experience playing Trine.

Enjoy the new background image, the all new custom graphics Trophies and many more improvements and optimizations to the game (including Finnish localization).

Trine is a fantasy action / platform game where the player can create and use physics-based objects to beat hazardous puzzles and threatening enemies.
Trine coming October 22nd!

If you have been waiting for Trine since “late July” like I have, you won’t have to wait much longer. Today Frozenbtye and Nobilis announced that Trine will indeed be coming to the US PSN store on Oct 22nd. Hopefully this pushed back date won’t hurt sales too much, Uncharted 2 will be the main focus of most PS3 by then. If you can’t wait that long, Trine is available on the EU PSN store or PC.

Trineâ„¢ is a fantasy action game where the player can create and use physics-based objects to beat hazardous puzzles and threatening enemies. Set in a world of great castles and strange machinery, three heroes are bound to a mysterious device called the Trine in a quest to save the kingdom from evil.
