Check out all the fixes to Okabu

It is always good to see a developer come back and address complaints that users have with a game. Housemarque did this with Dead Nation and now HandCircus is doing the same with Okabu.

If you hadn’t noticed, Okabu has a brand new patch up on PSN (Both US and EU versions have be updated). Simon Oliver, founder over at HandCircus, told Ben in a recent email that “we made some tweaks to the gameplay to reduce frustrations some players were experiencing.” So check out the list below and let us know what you think about the fixes:

Fix for rare crash on levels 2-3 and 2-5
Fix for sound issues on Dolby Digital 5.1 Systems
Several small level collision fixes to prevent shortcuts and rare situations where the player can get stuck
Fix for occasional game slowdown in World 4
2-5 — Giant seed can now be rained on as well as sprayed with water
Roki can no longer be hit with missiles when controlling a vehicle
It’s now easier to collect dozabot medals (statistic awarded in minigames too)
Fixes for some small English spelling & grammar mistakes
Fix for incorrect save game status when completing the game
Homing missiles now time out after 3 seconds
Fix for UI elements sometimes being badly proportioned in SD
Music now plays during the intro

Talk to friends, save at checkpoints

The long awaited patch for Housemarque’s zombie thriller Dead Nation has finally arrived. I’ve been meaning to go back and play Dead Nation, but its lack of co-op voice chat made me think twice about that. Luckily, this is fixed in the new patch, along with a few other tweaks.

The new features include:

Online co-op voice chat
Checkpoint save
Brightness calibration screen
Jack and Scarlett now have their own laser sight colors
You can now also buy a laser sight for your SMG, Shotgun, or Blade Cannon
Detailed statistics menu
Bullets can no longer hit cars beyond the screen
Game saves can now be copied

All of these are nice updates to an already great game. So shoot me a friend request and let’s get back to killing zombies and whacking car trunks for loot.

Anti-hacking patch inbound

It’s been reported around the web that Modern Combat: Domination is crawling with hackers. This issue is undoubtedly one of the reasons for the game’s lukewarm reception. Gameloft is being proactive, though, and patching many of the exploits out of the game.

Here’s a list of the full patch notes:

Anti-Hacking protection
1X invisible collision to prevent players from going out of Factory map.
1X invisible collision to prevent players from going out of Souk map.
Respawn: prevent face-to-face respawns.
Default time for a game in objective mode set to 3 minutes.
Modification of the range of the knife (distance and angle).
Playtesters added to the credits.
Possibility to change the range of the ping display.
Money accumulates from $2400 instead of $0 in all modes featuring respawn.
Quick fix of ‘death on respawn’ problems caused by connection issues.
Adjusting of controls sensitivity.

Hopefully this keeps existing players online and draws some new ones to the game. If the game’s loading times get cut, I’ll consider playing it. We’ll let you know when it’s live.

US & EU Get Patched

Did you buy Trine from the US store and wonder why there was no trophy art and other such things? Well it was missing a patch that our European friend got long ago and now you can finally get those fixes. If you want the low-down on all the updates and fixes check out our previous post.

But what others have found is that there is a new patch for the European version too! Joel from Frozenbyte didn’t even know this had gone up until someone posted about it on the Community Forums. Here is the list of fixes in this new version, note that the US version should have these as well:

* adds failsafe for unlocking Very Hard difficulty
* fixes a respawn bug in Iron Forge (co-op) near the first gate
* fixes a rare crash when the player touches a falling rock as it breaks (Crystal Caverns)
* fixes a rare crash when a water splash effect is played while the player exits to menus
* fixes a rare bug that occurred when the player switched characters and died simultaneously
* fixes final boss animations sometimes not working properly (Tower of Sarek)
* fixes a co-op respawn bug with the last checkpoint (Tower of Sarek)
* fixes a collision issue in the Iron Forge level (caused the Thief to take damage from lava)
* fixes several oxygen gauge bugs
* fixes autoaim bugs in Tower of Sarek
* fixes the Boots item to work properly (reduces spike/goo damage)
* fixes random failure of overwriting save slots in the New Game menu
* fixes Credits section names

Beware though, as there may be a save file issue with this latest patch.

Voice/Video Chat and more!

In our review we said that voice and video chat were looking to be patched into Hustle Kings. It seems those were the only things coming. Check out this list of updates and fixes coming to the game soon.

    * General improvements to game stability
* In-game Voice Chat
* In-game Video Chat
* Game Launching from PlayStation Home
* More stats for the loading screens
* The sound effect for the chalk has been turned down
* Chalk can now be used by pressing the R3 button as well as shaking your SIXAXIS
* Free Play mode
* Blue chalk only online rooms
* Online: Opponents are now allowed to change view while watching the player at the table
* Online: The player that breaks is now randomly chosen
* A new, “minimal” aim line
* Dampening effect on the pockets, to stop accurate high powered shots from always bouncing out of the pockets
* Small adjustments to the fine tune aiming to make it easier to use

I am most thrilled about the player who breaks is randomly chosen. People were gaming the system online so that they would always break first, and then possibly run the table. They are also planning to add a game-unlock item on the PSN store for those that want everything in the game, but don’t have time to unlock all of it.

You want more tables? How about CRAZY tables? Cool idea and they will be free, so I can’t hate on that.

So are you going to get your hustle on now that this update is coming?

We reviewed Fortix and had some issues with it. The devs have taken that criticism and by the looks of this press release, squashed those issues.

We love Critter Crunch, and apparently the devs do too. Whenever someone at Sony pushes a magic button tomorrow there will be a patch ready for you crunch-away at. Here are the details from Capy:

ADDITIONS!
- XMB Audio support
- language select available for all!
- Hey losers! You get a little XP even if you lose in multiplayer

TWEAKS!
- Player feedback regarding DIFFICULT LEVELS has been taken to heart. Tough levels got a little less insane!
- Coop networking tweaks to decrease pesky lag
- Multiplayer “Disconnects” are now awarded more accurately
- Catching a jewel while feeding glorious vomit to your son will no longer interrupt you
- Your rank will now be retrieved more reliably when playing Adventure

NASTY BUG FIXES
- No more annoying audio glitch
- No more Wins/Losses upload issues when the server is in ‘maintenance’ mode**
- Player score for Challenge levels now correctly handled in ALL cases
- “Barf Success” icon now shows up correctly in ALL cases
- “King of the Jungle” Trophy now successfully unlocks correctly even with a score of 0

Sounds good to me. Hopefully all the new folks that bought the game last week due to the sale will enjoy these tweaks
