ESRB has leaked what looks to be another PSN title. Max & the Magic Marker has been around the block a bit, it has been out on WiiWare, iOS Platforms, and even PC. The game just screams Move support, as you are drawing on screen with a “magic” marker to solve puzzles.

While Move support cannot be confirmed at this time, I will shoot an email over to the developer and publisher to see if we can get an answer.

ESRB Text:

This is a 2D platformer game in which players navigate their way through colorful drawings by using a magical marker. Players can draw platforms, barriers, and inclines that aid movement or impede the movement of others (i.e., the ‘gobo’ creatures). Players can use the marker to make objects fall on top of the little gobos, causing them to disappear in a puff of smoke. Along the way, a purple boss monster may burst into purple goo when defeated.

Fresh off the ESRB ratings site:

OZMA WARS

This is an arcade-style game in which players control a small spaceship that fends off UFOs, meteors, and comets. Players must periodically replenish their energy levels by docking with a mothership.

SASUKE VS COMMANDER

This is an arcade-style action game in which players eliminate small ninja characters from the screen. Players move back and forth to dodge shurikens and swords; ninjas fall to the ground when hit.

These are some truly old-school arcade games, from back late ’70s, early ’80s. Even through they are not on the Neo Geo they possibly could be some new titles for Neo Geo Station.

I’m not sure which mad executive decided that the time was right for a new BurgerTime, but nonetheless, an HD revamp of the original is coming to PSN. According to GamerBytes, Monkey Paw games is the developer behind the HD version, having previously had a hand in bringing Data East PS1 classics to the US PSN.

Regardless, BurgerTime HD is coming, so be ready. In the mean time, here’s the ESRB description;

This is an action-platformer in which players assume the role of a small chef who must assemble giant hamburgers. Players must avoid ‘cartoony’ hazards (e.g., grill flames, spikes traps) and oversized enemies (e.g., carrots, apple cores, hot peppers) in each level. The chef blinks and falls off-screen when hit; enemies react to damage with a ‘dizzying’ effect.

One step closer to release, and I'm about to...

Ah, the last step before being released on the PlayStation Network… The coveted ESRB Rating. It looks like Pix’n Love Rush, an iPhone app we noted as coming to minis back in September, is one step closer to hopping onto your PSP. Check out the ESRB’s description of the game:

This is a platformer game in which players guide a digitized character through side- and vertically-scrolling levels. Players earn points by collecting coins, avoiding hazards, and completing combos before the timer runs out.

Not surprisingly, it’s rated E for Everyone, which means everyone should check it out when it releases. That is what Everyone means, right? Stick around for pricing and release date, as I’m sure that info will be released soon. The minis platform is really starting to come into its own, with some stellar titles already out and a few worth looking forward to.

Puzzled is the latest NeoGeo game to be rated for PSN. Also known as Joy Joy Kid in Japan and it was released back in 1990. Seems to have a Tetris sort of vibe based on that video.

Seeing how I never owned a NeoGeo back in the day, I would really love to purchase some of these games. Christmas time sounds as good as ever to release these, but I doubt this will happen Like with all the others, we have no clue if this will ever come out.

Gameloft looks to be calling an iPhone game up from the minors to play on their PSN team. Modern Combat: Domination, part of the Modern Combat series of games for mobile devices, was recently rated by the ESRB.

This is a first-person shooter in which players complete a variety of military combat missions in Western and Middle-Eastern environments. Players use pistols, machine guns, and grenades to kill opposing soldiers and complete team-based objectives (e.g., eliminating entire teams or specific team members, defending vantage points). Gunshots are accompanied by realistic sound effects and moderate sprays of blood, which disappear quickly. Actions such as headshots, grenade kills, melee kills, and “killing sprees” and are rewarded with extra points.

We should have more on this title in the coming weeks.

Two more titles from Rockin’ Android and Sony Online Entertainment were leaked via the ESRB. These titles, in contrast to Crescent Pale Mist, are of the top-down shooter variety. Originally called Qualia and Qualia 2 Evolve, in Japan, the games seem to have influences from both Geometry Wars and fl0w. Check out these videos to see what I am talking about.

Here are the ESRB blurbs:

Qlione

This is an arcade-style strategy game in which players guide a small geometric-shaped creature through neon grids with various floating hazards. Players arrange orbs to disperse enemy units while dodging projectiles and avoiding collisions.

Qlione 2

This is an arcade-style strategy game in which players guide a small geometric-shaped creature through neon grids with various floating hazards. Players arrange orbs to disperse enemy units while dodging projectiles and avoiding collisions.

After talking with SOE there is no date set for these titles at this time.

More crazy Japanese stuff

Sony Online Entertainment and Rockin’ Android are teaming back up to give you more Doujin Game love. If you recall, the first batch of these “Japanese Indie” titles were the Gundemonium Collection, which got a rather favorable review on the site. But this we are getting Crescent Pale Mist, which part shoot’em up and part side-scroller.

I think that video does a pretty good job at demoing the game. Here is what the ESRB has to say.

This is a side-scrolling adventure game in which players help a young witch named Yonou traverse another dimension to uncover the source of a magical mist. Players run and jump between the background and foreground of each level while using sword and laser attacks to slash at fantastical monsters (e.g., dragons, zombies, bat-like creatures, “living armor” suits). Some battles are fast-paced and frenetic; defeated enemies generally disappear in explosive bursts of colorful light.

A little birdie tells me that we will be seeing this game very soon, possibly even next week.

Way back in February we posted a story about why the minis version of Tetris wouldn’t work on PS3. The reasoning behind it was because EA was hard at work on a full-fledged PS3 Version. Well it looks like we might be finally getting it soon, as the ESRB has a rating for it.

This is a puzzle game in which players arrange falling block shapes to pack them into contiguous horizontal rows. Players compete against themselves or others to earn points based on how many perfect rows of shapes they are able to clear.

I will contact EA tomorrow to see if we can get some more information.

Both of these titles were published by Working Designs back in the day here in the US, so hopefully this means other Working Designs releases will be coming in the future.

Auditorium has got a rating by the ESRB, woohoo. Although we knew that this was coming to PSN already, it is nice to see that it has a rating. Which means that it is one step closer to getting released.

This is a puzzle game in which players manipulate streams of energy in order to create orchestrated sounds. Players must shift one or more streams to activate switches and create music.

The game is all about controlling streams of energy, in which you guide around a level into certain areas which when enough of the stream goes through a musical piece is played. The game starts off really easy but it can get rather intense, which is always a good thing. Check out that video to see what I mean.

If you want to see what all the buzz is about, you can try out a demo on the game’s website.

Swing away, Merrill

iSquared Games Limited, publishers of Hyperballoid HD and the EU title Hammer Wars is coming out with a new game according to ESRB. It’s a minis title.

This is an action game in which players control a “flying machine rider” around rocky environments in a quest to aid an emperor. Players spin the device’s blade, axe, or hammer in order to kill worm/caterpillar enemies scattered throughout the levels. Some levels require players to engage in gladiator-style combat against other small devices. Enemies sometimes break apart or emit green or yellow blood spurts when hit.

I haven’t heard of or played Hammer Wars, but I did manage to find a YouTube preview of the game:

It looks… interesting? I like how “BREAK ThROUGh WALLS” is a feature. In all seriousness, the list of weapons seems vast and varied and the boss battles could be pretty cool.

A Creat Studios game for PSP?

Creat Studios is a veritable PSN game-making machine. According to a new ESRB posting, we’ll soon have our hands on yet another Creat game – Wackylands Boss.

This is an action game in which players control a monster that seeks vengeance by attempting to destroy a kingdom. Players fight their way through multiple swarms of enemies in side-scrolling “beat’em up”-style gameplay. Players destroy castles and stomp on small knights, set wizards on fire, and attack hordes of charging enemies. The small enemy figures cry out in pain when hit or set on fire. The monster is frequently struck by “cartoony” lances, bombs, fireballs, and cannons.

A PSP beat ‘em up? The game doesn’t have “Playstation 3″ listed under its platforms section, so it may not be a minis title. Interesting. More information on this title when we get it.

Frenetic Action With Several Small Explosions

Creat Studios have another game coming to PSN! The newest leaked title is Sky Fighter. The ESRB description is pretty detailed so we have a fairly good idea of what is going on.

This is an action game in which players pilot small planes through combat objectives in a World War II-like setting. Players travel through a 2D game world and complete various missions. Players use bombs, missiles, and machine guns to destroy targets (e.g., planes, tanks, trucks, buildings). Gun sound effects are realistic, and some levels depict frenetic action with several small explosions.

As always I will contact Creat to see if they can give us anymore information at this time.

Want an aquarium but not the hassle?

The ESRB leaks another game before it has been announced… this time it is My Aquarium from Hudson Entertainment. Snooping around the internet (i.e. using Google) I can see that this was originally a WiiWare title that was released all the way back in 2008. The ESRB describes the game as such:

This is an aquarium simulation game in which players can populate a fish tank and learn facts about a variety of different species. Players can use rocks, plants, and coral formations to customize their tank.

I have contacted Hudson to see if possibly this game will feature PlayStation Move support, will let you know what they have to say.

More brick breaking?

ESRB has listed a new game being published by Tik Games today. The title in question is Ricochet. Here is what we know so far based of the ESRB text:

This is an arcade-style game in which players must break apart formations of orbs by bouncing a small ball inside the game area. Power-up items allow players to engage multiple balls, have better control of the ball, or break apart the orbs more easily.

Sounds like your standard brick breaker / arkanoid type game. I will contact Tik in the morning and try to get some more details.

Update: I got in touch with Tik Games, they have nothing else to announce at this time.
