This is just stupid. I've decided to just re-download the games directly to the PSP which is obviously slow because it only supports 802.11 b. If Sony ever wants to really face-off with Apple they're going to have to cut out shenanigans like this, or do as Apple does in give fair warning on ending support for a device or piece of software. Oh well lets hope that Sony get's it act together now that their new CEO is the former man in charge of Playstation.

Comment on Should PSN Games Have Mandatory Demos? by Agent X

I'd recommend that Sony start instituting mandatory demos, especially in light of the fact that one of their main competitors in the video game console market already does this.

I've seen cases where a few developers don't want to make a demo, for various reasons (some of which were cited in the article). Those might be legitimate concerns, but ultimately those reasons are trumped by consumers' demand for demos, with the overwhelming feeling that the availability of a demo benefits them. I've seen people on forums like NeoGAF that have stated that they won't even consider buying a game without a demo (particularly lesser-known games from smaller developers), no matter how good the reviews are.

Crafting a "good" demo should be part of the development process now. Developers need to make a demo that offers just enough fun gameplay to entice gamers to purchase the full game. They don't want to give away so much game that gamers are content replaying the demo over and over again, but the demo shouldn't be so skimpy that gamers felt like they wasted their time. If a developer cannot figure out how to make a compelling demo that's not "too much" and not "too little", then that might indicate a problem with the quality and/or structure of the game itself.

One other way that developers can make a demo more enticing would be to enable him to carry over his progress to the full game. It makes people feel like their time invested in the demo was "worth it" if it can be applied to the full game. It would also be nice if cumulative progress on the demo could be applied to ranking on leaderboards and/or trophy lists--which would only unlock after the full game is purchased, of course.

I know its a month till Mass Effect 3 comes out but I wanted to get back into things on Mass Effect 2 before 3 comes out so I went to re-download all the DLCs for the game to get the full experience and it turns out I cant because of the stupid "maintenance" if you can really call it that... Sony likes their "maintenance" maybe they should get their fingers out of their ass and try and actually fix their problems instead of making new ones ...

Hmm.. Has Sony forgotten to tell the networks that PSN accounts will now be SEN?
And is the long fix basically waiting until the vita is released and the final switch over occurs.

Personally I think it's ridiculous. I have always held such high faith in Sony, but this has genuinely irritated me. I've had the problem for days now, and after spending £11.99 on the Arkham City bundle pack, I was unable to download. Of course they had NO problem taking the money from my account, oh no, that part of the transaction is absolutely fine. Not to mention the fact I also tired to redownload some DLC for Modnation Racers and my download list is completely empty. I've had several Playstation 3 systems over the course of 5 years, and have downloaded over 400 pieces of content. Clearly fixing one problem has just caused another.

I can confirm that this is NOT exclusively a Playstation Plus problem. I haven't paid for a membership and it's still happened.
